Practical small-scale gardening & permaculture for beginners and curious growers in Central Europe.

There’s something truly special about growing your own food, especially when it comes to chili peppers. For me, it all started with a small greenhouse, a handful of seedlings, and a deep curiosity about what I could grow. This was the moment my love for chilies truly began!

🌱 The Start of Something Spicy

A few years ago, I set up my first greenhouse, not knowing how much it would change my perspective on gardening. At first, it was a simple space to experiment, to see if I could grow a few plants. But soon, I realized that chilies were something special—vibrant, resilient, and packed with character.

I started with a few basic varieties, watching them grow from tiny sprouts into lush, green plants. As I cared for them, I learned valuable lessons:
✔️ Chilies love warmth and humidity, making greenhouses an ideal growing environment.
✔️ Capsaicin, the spicy compound in chilies, is a natural pest repellent!
✔️ Some chili plants can live for years if treated properly—becoming productive for multiple seasons.

🔥 The Love for Chilies Only Grew

What started as a simple experiment quickly became a passion. Over time, I expanded my collection, trying out different heirloom and exotic varieties, each bringing its own unique heat level, flavor, and personality.

Growing chilies isn’t just about the spice—it’s about the process, the patience, and the rewards of harvesting something you nurtured. There’s something amazing about picking your first ripe, fiery-red pepper, knowing you grew it yourself!
